Network devices
Switches, routers, firewalls and probes can send their flows to DC Netscope, on their own or in addition to the flows of your virtualization platform. See Compatibility for the protocols of the usual equipment.
Before you start
DC Netscope receives the flows on its collectors, which are set in the Configuration of its
administration interface:
| Protocol | Collectors | Default port |
|---|---|---|
| NetFlow (v5, v9), IPFIX | Netflow Collector workers count, 1 by default |
9000/udp |
| sFlow | Sflow Collector workers count, 0 by default |
10000/udp |
Before sending sFlow, set Sflow Collector workers count to 1 or more: no sFlow collector runs otherwise.
Then point the export of the device to the address of DC Netscope, on the port of the protocol, and make sure the firewalls between them let this port through.
FortiGate
FortiGate firewalls export sFlow. With DC Netscope at 192.168.1.50, and its sFlow collector on 10000, type in the
command line of the FortiGate:
config system sflow
set collector-ip 192.168.1.50
set collector-port 10000
end
Then enable sFlow on each interface whose traffic DC Netscope should see, for example port1 here:
config system interface
edit port1
set sflow-sampler enable
next
end
Checking that the flows arrive
Open the Dashboard: within a few minutes, the summary of the collect shows the traffic received from the device. Its flows show IP addresses: name the devices and the networks behind them in the External IPs view.
