External IPs

The External IPs view allows you to define a list of IP addresses that are not directly part of the VMware infrastructure. If you have physical servers, network equipment, or services hosted on the Internet, and their addresses appear in DC Netscope flows without being identified as a resource, you can add their IPs and a description in the External IPs view to help DC Netscope recognize them.

The External IPs view is structured as follows:

When external IPs are defined, they appear in DC Netscope views. In our example, the external IP vyos is displayed:

Note

Any modification to an external IP, whether it is creation, editing, or deletion, is initially done locally. To save these modifications, you must click the Push to Server button.

If you want to discard your local changes and revert to the last saved data, click the Pull from Server button.

Adding an External IP

Enter an IP address (IPv4 or IPv6) and a valid name (letters, numbers, underscores), then click Add External IP. The IP is saved locally. You must click Push to Server to send it to DC Netscope. Exporting External IPs

To export external IPs, click the Export button, then select External IPs. Note that you can choose the CSV separator.

Importing External IPs

To import external IPs, click the Import from CSV button.

Select a CSV file containing external IPs. Once the file is selected, the assistant will display a list of recognized external IPs.

Clicking Finish will import them into the local list of external IPs. The IPs are saved locally. You must click Push to Server to send them to DC Netscope.
